Relocation to Ben Hill Community Center

The Reed Community Foundation announced in October with Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum that RCF is partnering with the City of Tulsa to occupy the abandoned Ben Hill Community Center in 2020. The city will invest in exterior renovations from 2006 bonds while the RCF will renovate the interior. Additionally the City of Tulsa will invest $2.7 million toward renovating Ben Hill park from the 2019 "Improve Our Tulsa" initiative. The Reed Community Foundation has been active in the community servicing at-risk children for more than 14 years. Led by Coach Keith Reed, RCF provides a safe environment for children’s activities and provides accountability lessons and life skills. Currently RCF reaches more than 60 children between the ages of 4 and 12 per day, provides a home school atmosphere, and each child receives a hot meal donated by the Intrinsic Foundation. In relocating to the Ben Hill Community Center, Coach Reed plans to double and eventually triple the number of children that RCF serves.

RCF hosts "No Hunger Holiday" event

On Dec. 3, 2019 the Reed Community Foundation teamed up with Feed The Children organization and the Tulsa Dream Center to host a “No Hunger Holiday” event at the Ben Hill Community Center parking lot. Together we distributed a 25 lb. box of non-perishable food items, a 15 lb. box of essentials (soap, deodorant, etc.), sox, and laundry detergent. People drove their vehicles into the parking lot where volunteers loaded these boxes into the vehicles and sent them on there way. It was a great event that really allowed these organizations to show some love to the north Tulsa community. We distributed items that served over 400 families.

Mayor Bynum announces RCF partnership

On October 8, 2019, Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum announced that the City of Tulsa has partnered with the Reed Community Foundation which will allow RCF to operate out of the Ben Hill Park facility located at 210 E. Latimer Pl, Tulsa, OK 74106. This 11,000 square foot building, which once was an important part of the north Tulsa community, has been vacant for over 10 years. RCF will assume the responsibility, both financially and physically, of taking on major interior renovations. Relocating to this building will allow RCF to offer more community-based programs and to reach more children and families in the community.

Feed The Children partners with RCF

In the fall of 2019, Feed the Children organization, headquartered in Oklahoma City, informed RCF that they wanted to enter into an ongoing partnership with RCF to help serve the needs of the North Tulsa community. When RCF relocates to Ben Hill Community Center, there will be a room designated as a food & clothing pantry. FEED intends to fully stock this room upon commencement of operations, and they will provide food and clothing items on a continual basis to help replenish it. RCF is very thankful for FEED and the work they do, and we look forward to further developing our relationship.
